Jello pudding 100 Calorie Pack

Jello pudding 100 Calorie Pack

Jello (a Nabisco/Kraft brand) has dozens of pudding varieties to offer, from nonfat to fancy mousse flavors. I’ve tried several of the 100 Calorie Packs and they’re just as tasty and one might expect from Jello. Varieties include vanilla/chocolate combo pack, chocolate-vanilla swirl, tapioca and devil’s food. They are all fat-free, but very rich in flavor. If you want to add a little extra treat, put some nonfat whipped cream or Cool Whip on top. The 100-calorie Jello packs often show up at discount stores such as Grocery Outlet, so you can get a real deal on these!

Mister Salty chocolate-covered pretzels

Mister Salty chocolate-covered pretzels

Nabisco has put a twist (sorry, bad pun) on its classic pretzel character Mister Salty in the form of 100 Calorie Pack Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels. These .78-ounce packs include at least a dozen round mini pretzels generously covered in real, rich chocolate. The saltiness, sweetness and crunch combine for a great taste that made me forget the scant serving size.

Klondike Slim-a-Bear

Klondike Slim-a-Bear

My husband brought this box of Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100-calorie ice cream bars home from the store the other day, and before I could taste-test them, he and our son had eaten half of eight bars in the box! So, that’s a ringing endorsement right there. The Slim-a-Bear bars (these are vanilla) are smaller than the palm of my hand but flavorful. The chocolate coating tastes like caramel and the ice cream is slow to melt, so you can take your time eating this Klondike bar. The size and low-fat ice cream help bring Slim-a-Bear in at 100 calories. My only question is, if it’s round, can they still call it a “bar”?

100 calorie Smartfood popcorn

100 calorie Smartfood popcorn

I’ve always enjoyed Smartfood popcorn, which has a fresh-popped taste and just the right amount of seasoning. So I was excited to see these 100 calorie packs. The 5/8 ounce serving is larger than it sounds, and the White Cheddar Cheese flavor gives the popcorn a chip-like taste, which is not surprising since Smartfood is a product of Frito-Lay. Another point in its favor: Popcorn is a great snack “bridge” between meals, and the prepopped variety means you won’t annoy people in your office with microwave popcorn smell. And you won’t have to share.

100 Calorie Pack Cafe Mocha Cappuccino

If you (like me) can’t live without your morning mocha, General Foods has the answer with its 100 Calorie Pack Cafe Mocha Cappucino. Just add hot water (or, for a richer taste and more calories, add milk) and enjoy a 6-ounce glass of chocolatey coffee goodness. It’s caffeinated, too. Now, obviously, you could buy a regular tin of General Foods International Coffee and measure out portions as you go. But if you want convenience that will help you count calories at the same time, these packs are a definite option. There are five envelopes per box, and the box I bought was $2.99 — less than I’d pay for a coffee shop mocha. Take a pack to work and you’ll save money and a trip to the coffee shop.

Pepperidge Farm 100 calorie Soft Baked Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

100 calorie oatmeal raisin cookies

These teeny tiny versions of Pepperidge Farm’s Soft Baked Oatmeal Raisin cookies come just a few to a pack, but they live up to the promise of softness. The raisins are moist as well. On the down side, there are fewer than a dozen nickel-sized cookies in each pack, but at least you know you’re getting your 25 calories’ worth.
